Nominations can be submitted by any visitor, patient, or employee. The Rising Star committee selects one winner each quarter from the nominations received.
Dr. Sheirlie LaMantia was nominated by a grateful patient. The nomination reads, “She has shown her dedication and commitment to patients and to GRHC through her years of family practice and also her years at GRHC. She has touched lives in so many ways during her time there. She has touched lives from before birth until the end of life. She always makes each person feel as though she has the time to listen to their questions, concerns, and even just their stories as if they were her only patient of the day. She doesn’t rush through your file just to get you out the door and onto the next patient. You get all her attention and expertise during your visit with her, always with a smile on her face.
My personal journey with her has been over several years but most recently she has proven her commitment to making a patient’s life better. As an ER doctor she is not required to research and spend her own time trying to find a way to make one patient’s life better. However, she has done that for me. Dut to my illnesses I had been in the ER frequently receiving painful infusions and suffering through many hours in her care. She took it upon herself to find a way to make my journey as easier one. I will never get better and in fact, it will just get worse due to one of my illnesses. She has contacted other hospitals, researched to try to find a better way for me to not have to ensure the painful infusions that had become almost daily at that point. After she had a way to make the infusions all but painless she shared that to other providers ensuring that I would get the best quality of care possible. There were some bumps and hiccups along the way to finding the best way to administer this new way but she persevered with gusto until she got it right. This is only one of the many encounters I have had with her over the years that I have been her patient, my list could go on and on of how she has changed my life for the better through her dedication and level of acre that she provides.
Without ‘Dr Sheirlie’ as most know her, I would still be getting painful and sometimes unbearable infusions. Her project of helping me will also help others needing some of the same treatments. She is loved by so many, patients and staff alike, because of her upbeat personality and her knowledge of medicine. GRHC is lucky to have a provider with her tenacity and true love of what she does every day.”
Each individual nominated will receive a certificate, a star pin to add to their name badge, as well as a copy of their nomination submission. The winner is revealed at this ceremony and will receives a Grant Regional Health Center and Rising Star logo’d jacket; a special parking place at the staff entrance, and their photo will hang on the new display wall of the North link of the hospital.
“At GRHC we take great pride in our staff’s dedication to improve the health and wellness of all generations through high quality, compassionate, patient-centered care.
